Visions:The Art of Gail Harrison
We are proud to present our latest gallery showing, “Visions: The Art of Gail Harrison”. Gail works to develop her own photography into a surreal and beautiful glow, often focusing on spheres and circles found in nature. The show will run from November 2nd through December 30th. An artist's reception will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 5 – 8 p.m. Also featured in her show will be bags and purses by Sue Bisesi, incorporating prints of Gail's work on silk fabric and sewn into the designs.

Portrait Painting in Oils
A three – part class with Blaze

We are excited to offer our first ever art class! This class will teach you how to transfer a reference image onto a prepared clayboard, and take participants through the painting process to end with a small 9”x12" portrait of themselves or a friend. It will be held on Friday evenings, Nov. 20th, Dec. 4th and Dec. 11th, from 6 – 9 pm. Participants will need to bring a basic paint palette, a set of paints,
a glass jar with a closing lid for medium, and brushes. Spirit Gallery will supply the canvas board, medium, and transfer paper. Participants will take photos of each other on the first night of class which will be used for the paintings, or you may provide your own. Class size is limited to 6 students, so make your reservation early to guarantee your spot! Cost is $120.

Tattoo Contest at Frank's Place

On Saturday, December 12th, we will be co-hosting a tattoo-themed event at Frank's Place (9 Tilley Street, New London). The main event of the evening will be a tattoo contest. Blaze, Stacey, and Lari from Spirit Gallery will be judging. Categories will include best backpiece, best small color, best small black and grey, best large color, best large black and grey, best sleeve, and, perhaps most importantly, worst tattoo, so we can help turn that around. Prizes for each category will be a $50 gift certificate to Spirit Gallery toward the winner's next tattoo.

There will also be a drawing to receive an artist's choice tattoo (pictured below) at a discounted rate. Blaze says: “We are offering these tattoos at $75 per hour. This is $45 less than our usual rate! The sketch for my offering is the actual transfer that would be used. This tattoo will be full color, realistic with some fun blues and greens in the fur to mix it up a bit and give it some punch. I estimate the gorilla piece to take between 7 and 9 hours overall, and it will fit a thigh, shoulder or large bicep very nicely. It's about 7 1/2" tall. I believe that Stacey's piece is about equivilant in terms of time and size. The shape of her piece would look good on a forearm, upper arm, thigh, calf, or could even look nice centered on the spine.” Make sure you get there early to get your name in the box for these unique pieces!
